Resident artist, Lisa Friedrich of Rescare Homes Trust, wanted to experience painting, but was not sure where to start. Arts Out East teamed up with Lisa to help make her dream a reality, in the heart of Flatbush. Local mural artist Olive Breach joined the project to become Lisa’s mentor and to offer hands-on help, and Resene sponsored the project with a donation of paint. Over the period of a week in September, the team recreated an abstract painting of Lisa’s in the Flatbush Rescare site. The colourful mural is installed on a large wall at the residence reception and welcomes all who visit. Lisa is elated at the result, “this feels like my dream has come true”. Congratulations to Lisa on creating her very first, large-scale mural.
