PhD Dance workshop!
Love Dance Troupe was set up in 2017 with the aim to perform and develop dances. The group consists of young working mothers, grandparents and those who love dance and traditional Chinese culture.
This workshop was developed to celebrate dance and create a platform for discussion around how dance has changed and evolved in New Zealand. Led by The University of Auckland PhD candidates Jane Liu and Teuila Hughes, this workshop consisted of performances, step-by-step demonstrations, conversations and connections between the two practices. With a focus on Teuila, Samoan dance was shared for a majority of the session. Other cultural performances included Tahitian and Chinese dance.
This was an Arts Out East project supported by Te Tuhi and Howick Local Board
